I have been looking for a while on how to directly publish a certain folder of my SVN repository to my FTP-server. Google did not seem to have the right answer for me this time.
I have ended up on developing a commit-hook for Subversion on Linux. Python is a language that I have never used before. After looking at it for a while, it didn’t seem like any C-related language I’ve ever used. Also committing seemed to be still in process when you run the hook script. I came up with the solution for this by calling the python script with the nohub command and adding a small time-out to the python script.
This script is tested on Linux only. I have a VirtualBox setup with SVN installed on it and this hook script in any repository that I can use it in.
To setup this script:
- Install SVN
- Install Python
Go to the hook folder of the repositories you wish. Be sure you give access to the folder for the SVN user.
You could set the folder public if its a private system. (not recommended due to security)
